url monitoring - cannot view recorded logs

Postby brian_schnautz » Fri Feb 01, 2008 7:51 am

I would like to find out which sites a certain computer is going to all the time and even how many bytes of data are downloaded from websites if possible. The program is working successfully it appears from the main console. I am running in gateway mode with 2 nics (one public interface and one private LAN) It found my 7 machines on the LAN and is recording general information such as bytes sent and received, total packets, etc in the upper portion of the console, but I cant's seem to make it do anything else.

I went to the http filter config and made a rule to:
"*" - Pass Record
this should allow access to and log every url that computers are connecting to.. but it doesn't. I get nothing in the 'event log' view in the bottom part of the console. Where am I supposed to see this recorded information?

I have downloaded and installed the following per your web page at en.lanctrl.com:
Active Wall Free Edition -- 10 License, free!!!
Url filter, web content filter, post keyword filter, upload file filter, traffic monitor. It installed in gateway server and provides continuous enterprise-wide protection.

never mind!@ I figured it out. In the http filter rule I was actually putting "*" in the rule.. i TOOK THE QUOTES OUT AND IT WORKS! That was a little confusing. I thought you literally had to put the quotes in. 8)
